NPFL Top Scorer Confident Of Title

Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt striker, Chijioke Akuneto, has said that his club is determined to win the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
He noted that any team playing against United comes with full energy and motivation, to stop them. He however declared that they are putting more effort to ensure that they win their remaining matches.
Akuneto said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports on Sunday; shortly after United beat Abia Worriors 2-1 in a keenly contested match day 33 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
According to him, his teammates have been in high spirits and have taken each game as they come without any fear.
Akuneto scored a brace in the game and has recorded 16 goals to his credit, so far, this season.
“I feel so great; I thank God Almighty for making me the match winner today.
As professionals we make mistakes but we have to be courageous to do better.
We are determined as you can see from the starting of the match to the end.
We play with lots of vigour, determination and commitment from the beginning of the season because every team playing against us, play with all their strength to win us.
Consequently, we have decided to double our efforts to ensure that we win all our remaining matches” Akuneto said.
The top scorer of Rivers United FC this season pointed out that no team in the NPFL was easy to win.
Rivers United has played 33 matches; won 21 drew seven, lost five with 70 points and currently sit on top of the table.
