NPFL: Our Win Is More Important Than My Brace – Ohawume
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt forward Malachi Ohawume, said his team victory against Dakkada FC last Saturday was more than him been in the score sheet, he stated that his focus is to ensure that his team maintain her current impressive form, adding that he will do his best to support the team to win the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) title.
Ohawume said this last Saturday in a release signed by the media officer of the club, Charles Mayuku, and made available to the Tidesports. The forward scored the brace that gave the pride of Rivers 3-2 away wins over Dakkada FC in the NPFL matchday 30 fixture held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
According to the release, Stanley Eguma tutored side started the game in a brighter note with their intensity and capitalised on their momentum via a Chijioke Akuneto’s strike, for his 12th goal for the club this season.
Edidiong Ezekiel strike before and just after the interval ensured the host took the lead for most part of the game.
It explained that Ohawume became the hero in Uyo after coming on as a late substitute as his brace, first an excellent overhead kick and a finish from point-blank range confirmed the win for United.
The away win has helped the pride of Rivers to maintained seven points lead on top of the NPFL log with eight matches left.
“I am happy because getting a brace in the NPFL is not easy.
The victory is not even for me, I got it for the team.
