Group Distributes Refuse Bags To Shops In Rumuola

A contribution towards the promotion of clean environment in Port Harcourt City and its Environs, Cleaning Practitioners Association of Nigeria has distributed thousands of refuse waste bags to shops  in Rumuola community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Rivers State Liaison Officer of the association,Mr Osoloye Denis Ojuka who spoke to The Tide, during the exercise said the group is also commemorating the World Environment Day.
He said the gesture will ensure proper disposal of waste in that part of Port Harcourt.
Ojuka also described the theme of this years World Environment Day which is Only One Earth as apt, adding that attention should be directed to ways of checking the pollution of the earth.
According to him, mankind has no other planet than the earth, noting that whatever that affects the earth also affects man.
He also cautioned against indiscriminate dumping of plastics as it takes millions of years for plastics to decay.
Ojuka said government should work out arrangements for waste recycling, adding that it will create jobs for thousands of people as well as promote cleanliness in the environment
He also advised against the dumping of refuse on road median.
