Dame Amadi Emerges PDP Assembly Candidate

A  female retired secondary school principal, Dame Emilia Amadi has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Obio/Akpor Constituency 2 for the Rivers State House of Assembly 2023 general elections in the state .
Amadi scored 24 votes to emerge  as a sole candidate of the party during the delegates  primary election held at the Rumuepirikom Town Hall, recently .
Speaking to journalists after she was dedared winner by the returning officer, Amadi thanked governor Nyesom Wike for the opportunity given her and other women in the state and assured the people that she would represent them effectively if she emerges victorious during the 2023 general election.
She appealed to the constituents to support her candidature by voting for her enmass during the election and expressed  optimism that she will emerge winner during the election.
“I am highly overwhelmed by what has happened here today. I want to first say thank you to God who has kept us alive up to this day and who also made everything possible. Secondly, I want to thank Governor Nyesom Wike for his support. This has demonstrated that the governor is the only governor that has women at heart .I commend Governor Wike so much because when he says some thing, he stand by it. Indeed, Governor Wike is women-friendly. Today, about six women will be given the opportunity to serve in the state legislative arm across the state, “she stated.
The retired school principal espressed appreciation to the PDP leadership and delegates from the Obio/Akpor constituency 2 for the Confidence on her by giving her the opportunity to fly the party’s flag for the 2023 state Assembly elections in the state .
The Tide reports that a total of 24 delegates voted during the election and out of it, Amadi scored 24 votes and was later declared winner by Princewill Ejekwu ,the returning officer for the election.
