Rivers CP Mourns Zone 16 AIG, Don Awunah
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Friday Eboka, has described the sudden demise of the AIG in charge of Zone 16, AIG Donald Ngorgor Awunah as shocking and disheartening.
The State Commissioner of Police has therefore sent condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and the entire force management team, and Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, on the demise of an eminent communicator, ardent officer, and member of the National Institute, AIG Donald Ngorngor Awunah, whose death occurred on the early hours of Monday, May 23, 2022, at Garki Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness.
The late AIG Awunah, who hailed from Benue State, was a one-time spokesman for the Force, and was until his death the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 16, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, comprising Rivers and Bayelsa States.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 15th March, 1988, and was a dedicated officer with great passion for training and development and was at a time the Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos.
The state police boss in a statement through the Acting spokesperson of the command, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko described him as a resourceful and diligent officer and condoled with the immediate family, relatives, fellow coursemates, and friends of the deceased who passed away in active service of his fatherland and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
The statement noted that the late AIG would be remembered for his leadership roles in the zone and will be missed by all who came in contact with him while alive.
