Rivers Celebrates A Rare Gem

Monday was all fun as  Rivers people witnessed the celebration of an Icon at the Rivers State Government House Banquet Hall, Port Harcourt.
The event which was  flavoured with different colourful cultural displays, masquerades and beautiful performances by comedians recorded the presence of Royal Fathers’ and dignitaries from all walks of life  in celebration of a retired Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Justice Mary Ukaego Peter- Odili.
The celebration which began last Thursday in honour of retired Justice  Odili as she celebrated her  retirement as Justice of Nigeria and 70th birthday.
Justice Mary Odili was described as a jewel of  inexstimable value, role model to the girl child and a virtuous woman by friends, associates, colleagues and family.
In his welcome address, the chief host and Governor of Rivers State, Chief  Nyesom  Wike commended her passion for the job and  her attitude towards the discharge of her duty.
According to him, she was always fair in her judgement, saying that no one would say that she has been unfair at one point in her career as a judge.” She always passed a fair and balanced judgement, ‘equity and fairness’ was her watchwords, he said.
Governor, Wike, noted that it was worth celebrating, hence the occasion was put in place to honour a mother, role model and a Jewel of inexstimable value.
In his vote of thanks, her husband and former Governor of the State, Sir, Dr, Peter Odili thanked  Bar. Wike for his magnimity and generosity for making the celebration worthwhile  and remarkable,
Praying that the Lord grant his heart desires.
Sir, Odili also thanked all and sundry who took time out of their busy schedule to come and celebrate with his family and prayed for God’s blessings in their lives.
