iEBS Plans Entrepreneurs Workshop To Mark 10th Cooperatives Int’l Day

iEBS Matrixx Cooperative and Credit Society Limited has concluded arrangements for a Three-Day  entrepreneurs workshop in Port Harcourt to mark “100th International Day of Cooperatives”.
The international Cooperative day themed, “Cooperatives Build a Better World”, is expected to bring together under one umbrella different Cooperatives in Port Harcourt and the regulatory body, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking during a meeting with the host leadership, iEBS Matrixx Cooperative, in her office, the Director of Cooperatives in the Ministry, Mrs Elizabeth Chidi-Wike, assured on the preparedness of her office to partner iEBS on the celebration.
The Director commended iEBS’ unique efforts and many activities, stating that the Cooperative is one of the best in the State.
“We like the Cooperative day celebration you have proposed in collaboration with the Ministry. We are willing to participate in the efforts made by iEBS to celebrate International Day of Cooperatives”, she said.
According to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iEBS, Dr. Larry Goodwill Ajiola, the programme, slated from June 30th to July 2nd, is expected to train young and old entrepreneurs on best business  practices.
Dr Ajiola, who is also a United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador,  said the Cooperative would carry out youths empowerment,  among other programmes, before the main celebration in July.
The iEBS CEO noted that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) drive the economies of developed countries, adding that if SMEs in Nigeria are adequately empowered, most economic problems in the society would be addressed..
He stated the need for Cooperatives to adopt standard practices to enable them attract federal and international assistance that would result in the growth of businesses.
