Group Backs Ex-AG For Rivers Governorship Slot

A political pressure group, the Ibanise Consultative Assembly (ICA), comprising of Grand Bonny, Opobo, and Bille Elites, has joined other well-meaning people of Rivers Ijaw in endorsing the former Accountant-General of Rivers State, Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara in the race for Governor of Rivers State in 2023.
The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Prof. Theodore Halliday; Secretary General, Pali Alabo Maxwell Fubara; and Public Relations Officer, Dr. Ephraim Abraham; respectively said the antecedents of Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara in governmental and community leadership are unequivocal, describing him, as a power broker.
The body said Fubara had proved himself as a generous, caring and listening leader that if given the opportunity to occupy the Brick House next year as governor, despite ethnic and tribal sentiments, would take the state and residents to an enviable height.
According to the group, Fubara has proved himself worthy and reliable in all ramifications, adding that his choice was borne out of his track records and sterling leadership qualities as Permanent Secretary and Accountant General of Rivers State, especially in politics in his country home, Opobo Kingdom and beyond.
The group further described him as a big fish whose political arguments is second to none, and called on the people of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in particular, Rivers State and Nigeria in general to support his candidacy without bias, “so that the masses would enjoy the dividends of democracy and good governance”.
It also appealed to PDP members in the state to see his candidacy as a clarion call to salvage the party and people of Rivers State, calling on all eligible voters to give him their support to fly the flag of the party, come 2023 governorship election in the state.
The group called on Fubara to declare his stand without delay, saying “the people of the state yearn to cast their votes for him as their governorship candidate”.
