Board Tasks Contractors On Projects Completion

Chairman of the Bayelsa State Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Ebiye Tarabina, has tasked contractors handling government’s projects in the State to expedite action on the speedy completion of their contracts.
Tarabina gave the charge recently during the directorate’s routine project inspection tour of the ongoing Glory-drive to Onopa road project in Yenagoa, the State capital.
He said the project was very significant for the present and future development of the State, stressing that the timely completion of the project will enhance the socio-economic status of the people of the State.
The Tide gathered that the directorate, headed by Engineer Tarabina, former member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has been functioning effective upon his assumption of office as Chairman in the Governor Douye Diri’s administration.
Tarabina reiterated the Governor’s commitment and determination to do everything within his powers to ensure the timely delivery of quality projects that will stand the test of time.
Also speaking, the site manager of the contracting firm, China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC ), Engr. Odi Lee, said the company would intensify efforts for the speedy completion of the project, noting that with the determination of the present administration on infrastructural development, the project will be completed on record time.
He expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of the Directorate and his team for ensuring compliance by the contractors.
Meanwhile, a resident of one of the beneficiary communities of the road project, Akenfa communitiy, Mr. Marcus Joyson, who is also an employee of the company, appreciated the Governor of the State for the award of the contract, which, he said, will improve the standard of living of the people as well as boost the economic fortunes of the State.
The Tide reports that the Directorate’s Chairman, during the inspection tour, had in his company the Secretary of the Board, Eng. Samson Igodo, Directors of the Board, and Heads of Departments.
They also inspected the ongoing Yenagoa/Oporoma Road and AIT/Opolo Outer-ring Road projects.
