A Port Harcourt based businessman, Mr Chukwuma Okah, has urged the Federal Government to check the proliferation of small arms in order to maintain security across the nation.
Okah, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
He said the porosity of the country’s land borders and waterways undermine the security situation in the country.
The businessman expressed regrets that our border patrol was inefficient and compromised.
He warned that insecurity has risen to the climax and noted that unless urgent steps are taken, the security situation in the country would continue to worsen by the day.
He said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed in its fundamental duty of maintaining law and order.
Okah remarked that the level of insecurity in the country is driving investors away.
He stated that despite the billions of naira taken by state governors as security vote, insecurity had not been checked.
He pointed out that though there is no perfect system, insecurity should be reduced to the barest minimum.
He criticised the Federal Government for the high level of unemployment in the country and noted that it is at its peak in the present administration.
