Serene Environment Emboldens Good Health-Expert

An Environmentalist, Mr Stanley Nwoka, has called on the Anambra public to have a change of attitude towards waste disposal by bagging their wastes for proper evacuation to its final dumpsite.
In an interview with newsmen yesterday in Awka, Nwoka said that proper waste disposal enhances good health.
He said that massive enlightenment should be done across the communities in the state, especially in the market areas, to drum the need for the people to maintain a clean environment.
“There are lots of gain for people to learn and practise to live in a clean and neat environment. It promotes good health, business and tourist sites.
“When people appreciate nature and preserve it, it becomes a beauty to behold and a soothing oil to the minds of the people and it promotes creativity,” he said.
Nwoka, a consultant with the Anambra Ministry of Environment, called for a total change of attitude against environmental pollution, saying the Anambra State Government has reiterated its determination and commitment towards ensuring a clean and healthy environment for the citizenry.
He urged the residents to develop a new mind set to partner the new Anambra Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, to build a new environment for greater development of the state.
Nwoka stated that almost all dump sites in major cities of the state are in alarming state and need to be attended to, to save the people from the stench upsetting the public and to give a facelift to the state urgently.
“Dump sites at Oguta Road by Ojedi Junction, Inland Town Onitsha, Ose Okwodu, Main market, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Nkpor, Eke Awka, Ukwuorji, Okpuno amongst others, are heart tearing, they demand quick action,” he said.
Nkwoka said that under the new dispensation of leadership in Anambra, all dump sites in rural and urban centres would be given urgent attention.
He urged the public to imbibe the new habit of proper waste disposal and comply with the directive of right waste disposal to make the state viable for trade and commerce to thrive.
Nkwoka who urged the residents to key into the massive attack on refuse dumps, by disposing rightly to encourage the governor to sanitise the state environment.
He said that at various locations and communities, the youths should be part of the evacuation exercise across the state to make every local government area viable for business prospects.
Nwoka who said that the vision and mission of this administration would be fulfilled in creating a safe environment, assured that wreckages left along the roads need be evacuated in due time.
“Soludo has taken the right step in the right direction to put the message across to the people on the need to live in a clean environment.
“His action to evacuation of the debris and humility and leadership by example shows him off as a serious leader who has asked community leaders to take ownership of their environment.
