Romania University Lauds Rivers Judiciary Over RSMDC Inauguration

The Rivers State Judiciary has been commended for the bold steps taken to ensure the establishment of the State Multi-Door Courthouse (RSMDC) to fast track accessible justice delivery and administration in the state.
Prof Christain Rady Chereji made this commendation when he led a delegation from BABES BOLYAI University, Romania to visit the state RSMDC domicile at the state judiciary complex in Port Harcourt, at the weekend.
Prof Chereji, an international mediator, said they were at the judiciary to see the efforts of the state in the inauguration of the centre, adding that the future of justice system globally depend largely one Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
According to him, with the inauguration of the centre, a lot would beta achieved through mediation, adding that ADR is cheaper and faster in the administration of justice
He told the state chief judge that his organisation was ready to collaborate with the state judiciary to train the staffs of the centre for optimum use of the centre to pursue vigorously the mediation role expected from it in dispensing justice to all in the society.
“Let me applaud the efforts of the state government and the chief judge for inaugurating the centre, it will be cheap, faster and effective, no confrontational. It is a very important tool in promoting and building peace. We want to help in training mediators. We are open to any kind of cooperation,” he stated.
Responding, the state chief judge, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, thanked the visitors for finding them worthy to come and witness their achievements and success achieved in the centre within the short period of its inauguration in the state.
Justice Amadi disclosed that the RSMDC was established pursuant to section 1(1) and 2 of the state multi-door court house law no 9 of 2019, to among other things, enhance access to justice by providing alternative mechanisms to supplement litigation in the resolution of disputes
The state chief judge averred that history administration had encouraged the cell to grow in many ways, and added that efforts were being made to ensure further training of staff of the centre.
“I have approved private neutrals in this regard,” he stated.
Earlier in his welcome address, the acting director office RSMDC, Victor Nweke, said the centre minimized frustration and delays in the justice delivery system by providing a standard legal framework for fair and efficient settlement of disputes through ADR., serve as focal point for the promotion of ADR in the state as well promote the growth and effective functioning of the justice system through ADR.
Our correspondent reports that the delegation is accompanied by some teaching staff from the University of Port Harcourt.
