Rivers Assembly Confirms Obuzor As CCA President

The Rivers State House of Assembly, last Friday, confirmed Justice Iheneachor Wilfred Obuzor as the president of the Customary Court of Appeal in the state.
The assembly had in a voice vote of 16 members present, affirmed the nomination of Obuzor because of his track record, after a debate led by the Leader of the assembly, Hon. Martins Amaewhule.
The speaker while confirming Obuzor after dividing the house said that the Rivers State House of Assembly was happy with the nomination of Obuzor because of his track record and experience.
“After going through the documents of Justice Obuzor, the Rivers State House of Assembly is happy with his nomination.
“He is well qualified, having screened through the documents before us, and the voting, therefore, confirms him as president of the Customary Court of Appeal, Rivers State”, he said.
Ibani also directed the clerk of the assembly to transmit the documents of the confirmation to the governor.
Moving a motion for the nominee to take a bow at the plenary of the 1,047 legislative day, Leader of the assembly; Hon Martins Amaewhule, said that members were comfortable with his nomination, given his track record, and his recommendation by the NJC.
This was seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Evans Bipi, and adopted by the house.
The speaker, before reading the letter from the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, requesting the assembly to screen and confirm the nomination of Obuzor as the president of the Customary Court of Appeal, based on the recommendation of the NJC, had earlier at the plenary, announced the presence and visit of the students from the Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Port Harcourt to witness proceeding at the house.
Obuzor is a native of Odiokwu community of Ekpeye Kingdom, Ahoada West Local Government Area, and an alumnus of the now Rivers State University.
