Rivers Angels Intensify Preparations For Super Six Playoff
As the 2021/2022 Nigeria women Football League (NWFL) Super Six playoff draws nearer, the Rivers State women football side, Rivers Angels FC, has continued to double their efforts for the task ahead.
Head Coach of the Club, Okon Edwin disclosed this yesterday during an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the playoff is very close as it was scheduled for, May 2 to 18 this year, in Benin City. They teams who qualified for the playoff will now battle for the league title and a slot to represent the country in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
So, the team is working assiduously to ensure that the desired result is achieved at the end of the competition, saying that the team is working hard to represent the country once again at the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Okon noted that the team had embarked on intensive training to enable them overcome any hurdles associated with the competition that may likely affect or prevent the team from actualising their dream.
” We are working hard towards the task we have on ground. It is a crucial one, so we shall leave no-stone unturned, as we forge ahead with our assignment,’ Okon said.
Okon further explained that the girls were determined and in top shape too to get the desired result.
It would be recalled that the Jewels of Rivers played out a 1-o defeat against arch rivals Bayelsa Queens in their league ending fixture decided last week Wednesday, at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT,) Sports Complex.
The teams that made it to the Super Six include. Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Naija Ratels in Group A and Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels and Delta Queens in Group B.
