LG Boss Lauds Air Force School For Promoting Culture, Cohesion
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barrister George Ariolu has commended the commandant, staff and students of Air Force Secondary School, Port Harcourt, for their concerted efforts towards enhancing national cohesion through the promotion of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Ariolu stated this in his address as the special guest of honour at the 2022 Nigerian Air Force Secondary School Cultural Week in Port Harcourt.
The chairman, who witnessed diverse displays of the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria by students of the school, described the event as important, considering the clamour for the overall unity and togetherness of the six geopolitical zones of the nation.
He pointed out that culture which is what identifies a people, was also a way of life of the people.
Observing the height of disunity and tribal hatred in the nation, Ariolu commended the school for organising an event that would enhance progress and unite the people for a better future, adding that it was a move geared towards the direct direction.
He said when an individual was directly impacted, it lasts the test of time which is part of the benefits and advantages of acquiring knowledge and having a better educational background.
Addressing newsmen, he encouraged students to bear in mind that Nigeria, amidst the ceaseless display of hates, culturally and otherwise, remains an indivisible and united nation, despite the diversity in culture.
Furthermore, he has advised public and private schools to emulate Air Force Secondary School in promoting the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria and passing it on to generations ahead.
Ariolu has in line with his administration’s programmes and policies as well as efforts to improve academic activities in the educational sector, donated some chairs and the sum of N2million for students development and enhancement of academic learning in the school.
