Kidnappers Resume Activities On Elele-Omoku Road
Hoodlums have resumed kidnapping along Elele-Omoku road which had hitherto been peaceful following the deployment of security planning advisory committee members of communities along that axis.
An eyewitness, who spoke with The Tide on a condition of anonymity in Port Harcourt on Monday noted that commuters were being kidnapped on a regular basis.
He said that the disbandment of Omudioga Security Planning and Advisory Committee by Emohua Local Government Council had left a yawning gap in security architecture of the area.
The eyewitness, who hails from Omudioga said cultists who had fled the community in the wake of OSPAC deployment were gradually finding their way back.
He said there was heavy shooting in the community as a result of cultic onslaught recently.
He remarked that the unprecedented shooting in the community caused panic and many residents to flee their homes.
According to him, the disbandment of OSPAC by Emohua Local Government Council had caused untold horror in the community.
The eyewitness noted that in 2021 the Omudioga OSPAC commander was killed and his body severed following the disbandment.
According to him, one can only appreciate the achievements of OSPAC, if one reflects on the cult crisis in the area before the advent the security outfit.
He recalled that people were decapitated and roasted in what appeared to be cult rivalry.
He said the re-enactment of the drama of the absurd would be anti-development.
He therefore called on the Rivers State Government to beef up security in the area to avert a relapse into the status quo ante.
