Assembly Approves N2bn Loan For RSG
The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved the request for review of N2.5billion Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Health Loan Facility to N2billion to enable the state access the funds.
This followed Governor Nyesom Wike’s letter requesting the lawmakers to review the amount from N2.5billion to N2billion in compliance with CBN’s directed that states can only get N2billion for the health loan.
Commencing debate on the requeston the floor of the House at plenary, last Monday, the House Leader, Hon Martin Amaewhule, moved a motion for the Assembly to approve the request.
Shortly after the motion, all members of the House voted in favour of the request.
While ruling on the request Speaker of the House, Hon Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani said it was in line with the principle of transparency and accountability.
Similarly, the Rivers State House of Assembly also confirmed the appointment of the retiredauditor general of the state, Mr. Elias Akazua.
This also followed a request by the governor for the Assembly to confirm his appointment to enable him get appropriate benefits due a retired auditor general from the date of his appointment as acting auditor general of the state.
The Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaehwuleled the debate, and gave immense support to the governor’s request.
He stated that Akazua has served the state satisfactorily, and deserves to reap the benefits of his service to the state.
The House unanimously voted in favour, and confirmed his appointment retrospectively.
