PDP Stalwart Declares Intention For Assembly Seat
Peoples Democratic Party stalwart, Hon. David Omereji has declared his intention to run for Rivers State House Assembly seat for Emohua constituency.
Omereji, who made the declaration at Egbeda in Emohua Local Area of the state, noted that his declaration was a response to a clarion call by his community.
He stated for a long time, the people of Egbeda had not occupied an elective position in the state despite being the most populous community in the Ikwerre ethic nationality.
He said the call had become necessary because of the gross neglect of the community in politics.
Hon. Omereji, who is renown philanthropist remarked that politics was a game of numbers and pointed out that the community ought to be given its pride of place in the political scheme of things.
He said it was disheartening to see smaller communities with lesser manpower enjoying better privileges in politics than the most populous Ikwerre community.

He said Egbeda had well educated people in all spheres of human endeavours expressed regrets that the community had been elective position in spite of its political strength, numerical strength as well as its contribution to the revenue of the state.
In response to Omereji’s declaration, the Paramount Ruler of the community, Eze Christopher Didia expressed his support and that of his council of chiefs.
He described Omereji as a humanitarian and philanthropist who had done a lot to assuage the pains of the less privileged people. He remarked that men like him were had to find and prayed to give him his heart desires.
Speaking, the National Youth Coordinator, Emohua Chapter, Amb. Friday Ovumgba expressed optimism that the society would be a better place if people-oriented leaders were elected as lawmakers.
Ovumgba urged all to support Omererji in order to realise his ambition.
He expressed belief in the ability of the aspirant to turn things around for Emohua LGA and described him as a vocal advocate.
