The new Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, Deputy Superintendent Olufemi Ayodeji Ayodele, has appealed for synergy between the media and the command in the state.
Ayodele made the appeal in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt recently.
He noted that the synergy will further cement the relationship enjoyed between the media and his predecessor, Mr Oguntuase who has been deployed to its headquarters in Abuja.
The Tide learnt that before his redeployment to the Rivers State, Ayodele was at the command’s national headquarters, Abuja.
The NSCDC’s new PRO, who expressed pleasure over the development noted that it was also spectacular being in the midst of media men in the state.
“My outgoing boss, Assistant Commandant Michael Oguntuase, has said a lot of magnificent things about you.Assuredly, he has been a very diligent, highly resourceful and dedicated PRO; may God bless him richly as he steps up to undertake higher responsibilities”, he said.been a very diligent, highly resourceful and dedicated PRO; may God bless him richly as he steps up to undertake higher responsibilities”, he said.
According to him, it will be ideal, if the level of goodwill enjoyed with the former PRO will be extended to him in order to allow for more friendly work environment.
Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail the bill seeking to scrap the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
This latest one came from a Human Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju who condemned the bill in its entirety.
Adeyanju said that the bill was ill-timed given the time that the people are in.
He said that the issue of the NSCDC offering same service with the police was illogical and should be jettisoned.
The activist called on the lawmakers to ignore the bill and face other issues that will be beneficial to all.
The bill is sponsored by Hon Shina Peller, a member of the Ninth National Assembly, (APC, Oyo State).
