Four Suspected Kidnappers Meet Waterloo In Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command said they have apprehended four suspects involved in the kidnapping and eventual murder of a commuter identified as Onyekachi Obioma Chukwuagu, along East-West Road at Rumuodogo 1 Community, in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects – Obichi Ngita, aged 20 years, Chisom Honest aged 20 years, Young Chitu aged 21 years and Omens Woke aged 23 years were said to have pretended to be regular passengers and boarded the victim’s vehicle, last Tuesday.
They were, however, said to have overpowered the victim midway, kidnapping him in the process, while his vehicle with registration Number GDD 250 MU was abandoned.
This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko and made available to journalistsin Port Harcourt.
“When they got to a quiet part of the route, they kidnapped the victim and abandoned the vehicle, with Reg. No. GDD 250 MU by the roadside.
“The command, upon receipt of the complaint, swiftly mobilised operatives to the scene where they cordoned off the area, and commenced an intensive search resulting in the arrest of Chisom Honest, who led operatives to the rest of the gang and the location of the victim’s corpse.
“The suspects claimed they murdered the victim, using a machete for refusing to cooperate with them,” the statement said.
The PPRO said efforts are being intensified to apprehend other suspects indicted in the matter, with a view to concluding the investigations.
Iringe-Koko further said that the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, while condoling the family of the deceased for the unfortunate loss, assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation in line with his commitment to the cause of justice.
