Council Shuts Water Wells Over Cholera Outbreak In Community

As a measure towards checking future out breaks of the cholera epidemic in Bakana community, the Degema Local Government Council is to cover two water wells in the community.
Executive chairman of the council Hon. Michael John Williams disclosed this at the Degema consulate, during the flagged off of the second round of maternal New Born and Child healthy week by the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board.
Williams said the council will also a demolish a water borehole in the community.
He also stressed the need for the people to imbibe the habit of cleanliness stressing that the council will encourage sanitation and cleanliness in the community.
The Degema council boss also called on pregnant women as well as nursing mothers to go to Government Health Centres for their medical needs.
He said any health centre that refuses to attend to them should be reported to the council for appropriate sanctions.
Also speaking the permenenat secretary Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board Dr. Aggriye Harry called on the people of Bakana to keep their environment clean.
