Wike Tasks Traditional Rulers On Peace, Dev

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has charged traditional  rulers in the state to shun partisan politics and promote peace and development in their domains.
Governor Wike gave the charge at the banquet hall in Government House Port Harcourt while handing over certificates of recognition and staffs of office to two first-class monarchs, His Royal Majesty, Ohna Sergent Chidi Awuse, Nne- Nwe -Eli, Emohua X111 (Olo 1V) and His Royal Majesty, Eze Ozuowuowu Levi Amos Orlu Oriebe, Nye-Nwe Ali Akpor.
Governor Wike, who congratulated the new monarchs on the feats, said that the positions would attract a lot of responsibilities and urged them to exert high level of vigilance in their domains to stop the activities of illegal oil bunkering and artisanal refining.
He said they should join hands with Government to promote peace at the grassroots, adding that the war against illegal oil bunkering in Rivers State was irreversible.
The governor also said that his administration would continue to demolish shanties in the city which served as hideouts to criminal elements, and that all government properties converted by civil servants into private properties without Certificate of Occupancy would be recovered.
Last weekend, Governor Wike was accorded a grand reception by the people of Kalabari Kingdom at the Abalama Town field in Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
The governor was conferred with the title of Se-Ibidokibo of Kalabari land, ( He who does good things for Kalabari people) by the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Gboko Disreal Bob-Manuel on behalf of the people of Kalabari Kingdom in recognition of his developmental strides in the area.
Wike who expressed gratitude to the people of Kalabari for the honour urged them to work in one accord to achieve their collective aspiration.
It would be recalled that the people of Ogoni recently conferred similar title on the Rivers State Governor over his developmental strides in Ogoni land.
The Rivers State Executive Council, last Wednesday, gave approval for the state to access N15billion facility from the CBN infrastructure fund to accelerate the completion of three critical projects:  Oyigbo-Okoloma road, Chokocho-Igbodo road and the 10th Flyover at Elimgbu, Rumukrushi in Obio/Akpor LGA.
The decision of the State Executive Council was disclosed by the Commissioner of Finance, Barr. Isaac Kamalu while briefing newsmen at Government House Port Harcourt.
