We’ll End ‘Kpo Fire’ Business In Emohua -Lloyd
The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Council, Dr Chidi Lloyd, has vowed to redouble efforts towards ending the activities of illegal crude oil refineries in the area.
Lloyd made the vow while speaking on a live radio programme in Port Harcourt, last Saturday.
He was reacting to the fire outbreak which gutted some houses in Ibaa community in the area, last Friday.
Lloyd blamed the activities of “Kpo fire” operators for the inferno, and assured that he would redouble efforts in the fight against illegal oil refining in lbaa community.
The fire was said to have started when a truck carrying illegally refined petroleum products in nylon bags caught fire.
It would be recalled that a truck loaded with dark fluid in a nylon container, which was believed to be illegally refined petroleum products, had accidentally caught fire in Emohua.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Lloyd revealed that almost all the houses in lbaa have a dump for illegally refined products.
Further speaking, Lloyd, said despite the efforts made by the state government, illegal refining activities were still ongoing in Ibaa community, and possibly at other neighbouring communities.
He said that since the ‘Kpofire’ operators have decided to be cooking their products at the detriment of the masses by polluting the environment with soot, he has equally decided to redouble his efforts in exposing them.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Government headed by Governor Nyesom Wike, had declared war against illegal oil bunkering in the various local government areas of the state.
