Valentine’s Blues
Written word, they say, is becoming a lost art form. If that is true, can we all reverse the course and help preserve it?
One of the best days to resurrect the written word is February 14, a day specially dedicated to loved birds to express their emotional feelings towards another.
On this year’s Valentine’s Day which comes up next Monday, the written word can be preserved by opting for a sweet and poignant Valentine’s Day poem, saying “I love you.” There is nothing more personal, emotional or resonating than writing a note by hand, especially a love letter to your significant other.
Whether you write them inside a handmade card or jot them down on personal stationery, dedicating poems is an inexpensive and heartfelt act of expressing love that will be appreciated. Let it be a classic way of showing how much you care for your loved ones in this Valentine’s season. We bet you, your significant other will thank you for thinking outside the box of gourmet candies.
By way of preserving the written word and making this year’s Valentine’s Day blue for our readers, the Literary Arts Unit of The Tide has put together a collection of love poems that is sure to touch the soul and warm the heart.
Sit down and savour these sensual poems as Audre Lorde, E. E. Cumming, John Clare and John Cooper Clarke couch and convey a variety of poems that vary in length, cadence and style to your innermost thoughts in expressive ways that dance on the page like a classic waltz.
It is our hope that there is one that will speak to you and your mate. Get ready to transmit the messages from your heart.
However, if the thoughts of Valentine’s Day are causing you heartache or make you feel unworthy and inadequate, just because you do not have a better half, it may be time for you to indulge in self-reflection. But remember, you are not alone. For every loved birds you envy, there’s always someone who is also heartbroken.
If you are single, remind yourself that being single does not define you or your self-worth. All you need to do in this Valentine’s season is to make yourself a priority by splurging a self-care, and indulging in a box of pink and red chocolates!
Happy Valentine’s Day in advance to all our readers.
