The Points At Stake Is Our Target – Okon
Head Coach of Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon has said that the major reason for the game was to hit the three points at stake as it is all that matters.
Okon who disclosed this yesterday during a telephone interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt said that despite playing badly his team garnered the three points, saying that all that matters was the three points.
According to him, his team has always played badly, but win saying that in the end of the day, all that matters is the three points and that they have gotten it and it has taken the team back to the top of the group.
“Fatigue had nothing to do with our performance today, there are days you find it difficult to play the way you want but at least, you get the required results.
“Also, having players at the National camp doesn’t mean the team should struggle, you still have to use what you have back home to execute your games.
“I am happy with the result gotten and glad we took back the top spot before the breaks. We will go back to the drawing board to correct the mistakes from today’s encounter,” Okon concluded.
The game which ended 2- 0 in favour of the Angels ensured the Jewels of Rivers went into the NWFL premiership break as Group B leaders with 13 points from seven matches.
The NWFL mid-season break has now commenced after Wednesday’s round of games with action expected to resume on February 23, 2022 with Rivers Angels traveling to Akure to face Sunshine Queens in the reverse fixture of Wednesday’s game.
