‘Rivers United In Contention To Win NPFL Title’
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, pride of Rivers are in contention to win the Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL) title, Nyima Nwagua, said.
According to the attacker, he is convinced that his club will finish on a good position on the League table, following the impressive performance of the team.
Nwagua said this on Sunday shortly after the pride of Rivers defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 in the match day 14 of the NPFL at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port Harcourt.
The attacker who scored the only goal of the game explained that one thing about him is that he always wants to get results for his team and today he was able to achieve the result.
“ I feel excited because, one thing with me, I always want to get results for my team and today I was able to do so.
It was just a goal but the most important thing is the three points.
Sometimes a game like this, what we need is just to get a goal, defend it and you get the three points.
The most important thing is the three points.
I thank God for the victory today” he stated.
Nwagua has scored two goals this season and expressed optimism that he will score more goals before the ending of the season.
The pride of Rivers are currently on top of the league table with 29 points after playing 14 matches won eight, drew 5 and lost only one.
