The devices belong to Baker Hughes Company located at #125, Trans Amadi Industrial Layout in Port Harcourt.
In a letter personally signed by the state Commissioner for Police, Friday Eboka in Port Harcourt, yesterday, he notified the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike of the move by the police to carry out the destruction exercise scheduled to begin today through Friday, February 4, 2022 at 9am daily.
According to the statement, the destruction of the items followed a recommendation and evaluation carried by the combined team of experts from the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel and personnel of the Anti-Bomb Squad (EOD) of the state police command, who conducted careful examination of the devices and found the items to have significantly deteriorated and expired, necessitating their destruction.
Eboka, therefore, urged members of the two communities and the general public not to panic or entertain any fear, saying that the Anti-Bomb Squad (EOD) unit of the command would carry out a controlled destruction exercise in the area.
