Old Boys To Partner RSG On Alma Mater’s Dev

The Ascension High School, Eleme Old Boys Association in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, has promised to partner with the State government and other stakeholders to provide infrastructure and other social needs towards the development of its alma mater as a way of giving back to the school .
Members of the association made the declaration during the first unified reunion thanksgiving service held at St Mark’s Anglican Church Elelenwo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area last Sunday.
The thanksgiving service was an avenue for members of the association to appreciate the grace of God for the lives and protection of members.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the acting president, Dr Tony A Chukwu, said the association has been in existence within branches, adding that the eventual collective gathering would foster a formidable old boys association worldwide that would make more impact to the alma mater and the society at large
He inaugurated a five -member strategic committee led by Prof Sammy Sam – Wobo, to explore the viability of the harmonisation theory membership drive, among other things
Also speaking, the President of Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Prof Sammy O. Sam – Wobo, said the thanksgiving service was the first official unified reunion of members of the association for over 40 years. He added that the school has existed since 1971 till date.
Wobo, a professor at the Federal University, Abeokwuta, averred that old boys associations are synonymous with the development of their alma mater, adding that they interface with the school administration and complement the efforts of the school’s management to improve the standard of the school.
Earlier, at the church thanksgiving service, Ven Azubuike Ugoha, who spoke on the benefits of convenant, thanked the association for coming to express gratitude to God for his mercies.
He however, urged them to reach out to others in order to activate and reposition the group for efficient service delivery.
