NSCDC Loses Four Personnel To Explosion In Niger
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says that four of its personnel died in an explosion that rocked its operational vehicle in Niger State.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Director, Public Relations, Odumosu Olusola Abuja and made available to the press in Port Harcourt during the week.
“A bomb explosion has rocked an operational vehicle of the Niger State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps killing four personnel instantly” , the statement read in part.
According to the statement, the explosion occurred at Galadiman Kogp area in Shiroro Local Government of Niger state on the early hours of Monday.
The victims as it was stated were men and officers of the security agency attached to Shiroro HYDRO Power Station, Shiroro, Niger State on a routine patrol.
It was laernt that vehicle which the victims rode stepped on a buried land mine which exploded immediately killing all occupants except the driver who is currently in a very critical condition.
The driver, whose identity was given as Inspector Bala Adamu has been hospitalized and responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, the Commandant General, NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni has commiserated with families of the deceased officers and men who paid the supreme price in service to the Nation.
Audi also reassured residents of Niger of the Corp’s resolve and commitment to the security of lives and property of Nigerians without deterrence.
NSCDC has been on the front burner in the quest to protect the country’s assets.
