NPFL: Eguma Praises Players Over Impressive Performance
The technical manager of Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt, Stanley Eguma, has praised his players over their impressive performance against visiting  Nasarawa United.
United beat their opponents 2-1 in the match day 15 of the Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL), at Adokiye Amiesimaka, Stadium in Port Harcourt on Saturday,.
Eguma, commended his players in his post-match interview with sports journalists, shortly after his side secured the three points at stake.
According to him, if not their good experience and good character exhibited in the pitch during play, the game might have turned differently but  they had a good result.
“We put on  a good fighting spirit to ensure that we secure the three points. My players in second half showed some level of fatigue.
“It was a good game but if not for the good character and experience of my players, the result may have been different.
They put in good fighting spirit to ensure we got victory and the three points. I commend them,” Eguma said.
The technical manager explained that there was still room for improvement of his players’ ability, adding that, the technical crew is still working on all the departments to get perfection.
The Pride of Rivers got the lead in the 23rd minute by Chijioke Akuneto, assisted by Nyima Nwagua and Ishaq Kayode’s strike; made it two to increase his goal haul to 10 in the season, while the Solid Miners reduced it to 2-1 in the 72nd minute by Michael Tochukwu.
Also speaking, the head coach of Nasarawa United FC, Bala Nikiyu described the game as a good one, adding that his players gave good account of themselves.
He pointed out that football was all about winning and losing, saying that no team is perfect as far as the NPFL is concerned.
“If you lose to either good or bad team, loss is loss and winning is winning.
The league is still open. I think the league is going on well,” Nikiyu said.
