NDLEA Docks Aransiola Over 42kg Cannabis
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has charged a 33-year-old man, Tunde Aransiola, to a Federal High Court in Lagos, over illegal dealing in Cannabis Sativa.
Aransiola was arraigned on one-count charge of illegal deal in 42kg of hemp.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Justice Yellin Bogoro.
After his plea, the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan asked the court for a trial date.
But the defence counsel, Mr Okeh Ojakovo, moved a bail application on behalf of the defendant, urging the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
Bogoro consequently, adjourned the case until February 18, for ruling on the bail application.
In the charge, the prosecutor alleged that the defendant committed the alleged offence on November 11, 2021.
He said Aransiola was arrested at the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, for unlawfully dealing in Cannabis.
Aernan said the cannabis weighing 42kg, was recovered from the defendant following a search.
According to him, Hemp, Cocaine, Heroin and other hard drugs, are listed in the NDLEA Schedule as banned.
“Trafficking in any of them contravenes the provision of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act of 2004, which provides for up to life imprisonment on conviction,” the prosecutor said.
