The fourth Inter House Sports Competition of First Baptist Academy Group of Schools, Aggrey Road in Port Harcourt Township, was held last Friday at Sharks Football Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
The competition saw a huge attendance by parents, students and dignitaries, as they conspicuously entertained the crowd with colour party and secondary school parades and also an admirable display of cheer leaders.
In her opening speech, the Principal of the school, Rev. Lauretta Ibieneye, said they are committed to the development of children into adults to become future leaders.
According to her, the school gives equal attention to sports as academics, as the relevance of sports in achieving excellence cannot be over-emphasised.
“ I want to say that extracurricula activities and sports afford us the chance to be disciplined and focused, to be diligent in hard work, to engage in team work with high spirited team spirit, to build friendship that stands the test of time,” Rev. Ibieneye said.
The principal explained that the fourth edition of the school inter house sports competition would have held last year but it could not, hence, the entire state was recovering from Covid- 19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020.
She used the forum to commend the teachers and parents for their commitment to ensure that pupils and students remain high fliers.
“ I salute our tireless teachers with an applause for preparing these children. It’s not an easy task but you made it look easy. I commend your efforts and commitment in ensuring these children remain high fliers. God will remember your labour of love.
I appreciate our parents for supporting our children financially and morally but more importantly, being here to watch them perform. You indeed love. You shall reap the fruits of your labour,’ she stated.
At the end of the competition, Blue House (Alapuye Cottrell) emerged winners with 478 points, while Green House (M.D George) and Yellow House (I.S David) came second and third with 426 and 410 points respectively.
