For being presented and accepted by the Amanyanabo and Bonny Council of Chiefs, Alabo Evans Clement Brown, has been declared as the authentic head of Chief Buoye Omuso House in Finima.
A section of elders from Chief Buoye Omuso House told newsmen, Monday, that due process and tradition were followed in the selection and presentation, and as such any other person remains an imposter to the chieftaincy stool.
The elders who briefed journalists of events that led to the assault on Alabo Clement Brown on 22nd January shortly after he was presented to the Bonny Chiefs Council insist that the traditions and conventions of Bonny culture cannot be subvert by few selfish persons in the house.
According to him, it was foolhardy to attempt to subvert an over 300- year old custom, where chiefs are selected based on lineage from their ancestors.
Spokesman of the elders, Soala Apiafi Brown explained that the current crises were handiwork of those who wanted to impose themselves on the wishes of the Finima people, as he revealed that already the matter had been reported to the authorities.
Brown, who carpeted those fingering the Amanyanabo of Bonny for the crises said the King not select a chief as it is the custom of the people, rather, the house does and presents to Bonny Council of Chiefs.
In his words, “this dynasty has been since 1824 of Omuso House. Our chiefs follow the traditional way. Chief Evans is a descendant of Chief Omuso.”
He described the attack as handiwork of mischief makers and those that wanted to cause crisis in the house.
Calling on the authorities to investigate the attack and assault on Alabo Evans Brown and his supporters, Brown alleged that property worth millions of naira were destroyed by the hoodlums hired to unleash mayhem on Chief Bouye House in Finima.
He expressed fears that if the situation continued it may lead to economic loss and security breakdown, as many indigenes have deserted Finima after the incident last January.
