Enyimba continued their dismal form in the Nigeria Professional Football League as they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling MFM on Saturday.
The Finidi George’s men created numerous scoring opportunities, but were let down by wayward finish from the forwards and superb performance from MFM’s goalkeeper, Isaac Jerry.
The Aba Elephants had 16 attempts on goals, of which 8 were on target, while MFM had 4 attempts and hit the target twice.
The last time the Church Boys picked a point in Aba was in 2016 and Enyimba has dropped 7 points at home this season in the NPFL.
Victor Mbaoma scored Enyimba’s only goal of the game in the 7th minute. Emeka Obioma receives a long pass from goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke , dribbles his marker before making a through pass to Victor Mbaoma, who finished the move for the opener.
The lead however lasted for five minutes as the visitors hit back. Chukwudi Ekeocha ran onto a through ball and beat his marker, before slotting the ball between the legs of onrushing goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke.
Enyimba almost regained their lead in the 20th minute, but Finidi watched in agony as Obioma’s volley from close range struck the frame of the goal.
Another chance fell to Victor Mbaoma ten minutes later, but sumptuous header crashed against the post with Isaac Jerry beaten.
