‘Fight Against Illegal Refineries Devoid Of Political Party, Ethnicity’
The fight against illegal refinery otherwise known as ‘Kpofire’ in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area and Rivers State, at large, is not about party or ethnic origin. It is about the well-being of the people, particularly their health.
The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Rowland Sekibo, made this statement during an interview with newsmen after a brief meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Sekibo said the fight against illegal oil refineries was devoid of party affiliation and ethnicity.
He said, “Rivers people must rise-up in support of Governor Nyesom Wike in protecting our environment, economy and most importantly, human lives, which is the duty of every responsible government”.
Sekibo said, he would continue to hunt down the perpetrators of the heinous crime that only enrich themselves by endangering millions of Nigerians while sabotaging the nation’s economy, too. Nigerians while sabotaging the nation’s economy, too.
“We’ll not rest on our oars because the fight is far from over, especially with such commitment to save our people and all residents of the likely ailment soot causes.
“We are very committed in taking this war against the operation of illegal crude oil refineries within our territory to the highest level, and we must win the battle”, he said.
