Director Tasks Govt On Sports Sponsorship
The Managing Director of Solotone Global Ventures Limited (SGVL) of Port Harcourt, Leon Oduche, has said that his intention to sponsor the just concluded National Open Senior Karate championship was to create an avenue to encourage and engage young one meaningfully.
According to him, it is also a way to give back to the society and divert their energy towards sports.
Udoche , said this on Saturday in an interview with sports journalists at the end of the three-day first Karata Base National Open Senior Karate Championship, held at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex in Port Harcourt.
He disclosed that SGVL is proud to co-sponsor the event, saying that as far as the championship will take place every year, SGVL will be part of it and they will be proud to partake in the sponsorship.
“We are proud to co- sponsor the Karata championship.
As you can see, I am here personally to witness the event and this will be a source of encouragement to the young Karate.
SGVL needs to give back to the society, most importantly we need to encourage our young ones for them to divert their energy towards the sports,” Oduche said.
He explained that the three-days championship was fantastic and it actually removes youths from the street within the period.
He also appeals to the State government to support and encourage the young ones to get more interest in sports.
“My message to other well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies is to come and support the Karate championship because it is also a way of bringing our boys and girls off the streets for them to be useful with themselves.
