The Head Coach of Karate in Bayelsa State, Lawrence Udoka has rated Rivers State high in terms of hosting sports competitions.
He stated that the State has one of the best sports facilities in the country to host any sports tournament.
Udoka made the assertion last Saturday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports during the just concluded first Strata Base National Open Senior Karate Championship held at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports complex in Port Harcourt.
The coach described the championship as one of the best championships,  saying that it has helped to prepare his althetes for the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled to hold in Delta State this year.
According to him, the championship was also to  test his althetes’  abilities  and form,  adding that winning medals in the tournament was a good one but most importantly, it  has helped him to know the fitness of his althetes.
“It is a good championship.
The three day event has keep our althetes busy and it has prepared them for the upcoming NSF.
Rivers State is always the best in terms of hosting sporting activities.
The organisation, environment and the facilities in the sports complex are awesome. The standard was international,” Udoka said.
He commended  the spirit of his althetes during the competition,  adding that they need to do more team work before the NSF.
“ We need to do more team work,” he stated.
He used the medium to call on the Karate officials to improve on officiating.
