AWCON 2022 Qualifier: S’Falcons In Testy Duel With Lady Elephants

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will today take on their Ivorian counterparts, the lady Elephants, in a potentially testy encounter for a ticket to the 2022 African women Cup of Nations, (AWCON), scheduled for Morocco later in the year. It is only the first leg of the double legged encounter and the Falcons must be in the mood for revenge after suffering in the hands of the opponents when they met for the 2020 Olympic qualifier. Coach Randy Waldrum and Captain Asisat Oshoala must be able to rally their troops for a convincing victory that would literally reduce the return leg to a mere formality.
Indeed, the Super Falcons seem to be having more difficulties at the moment more than before in killing off opponents in the continent, that is why all hands must be on deck at the MKO Abiola Stadium, today, to ensure that the country does not suffer disappointment yet again in the hands of the Ivorians
Nigeria has won the past three editions of the AWCON but faces a difficult tie against Ivory Coast, the fifth-highest ranked side on the continent.
