The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barrister George Ariolu, has presented the 2022 Appropriation Bill to the Legislative Arm of the council.
The 2022 Appropriation Bill, which is tagged, “Service to the people of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area”, is estimated at the sum of N6,833,826,583.34.
The chairman during the presentation, last Friday, called for a continued synergy between the Executive and Legislative Arms of the local government council in order to ensure further accomplishments of the council’s agenda to put smiles on faces of the people in the LGA.
He noted that the LGA occupies an enviable position in the socio-economic development of the state, adding that the position must be jealously maintained by both Executive and Legislative arms of government.
He further encouraged them to join forces with the Executive arm of the local government to consolidate on the good foundation laid by the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
The chairman, while presenting the appropriation bill to the Legislature, expressed confidence that the bill, which will enhance development and improve lives in the local government, will scale through an accelerated debate and subsequent passage into bye-law by councillors.
Ariolu, who commended the councillors for their thoughtful ideas, contributions and suggestions which have singled out the LGA and made it an enviable place to live and do business, summarised the presentation by estimating the total projected revenue of N6,833,826,583.34 to be realised from sources like Statutory Allocation, Value Added Tax (VAT), Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Other Revenue, as well as Opening Balance.
