Senate President To Commission New Ibom Mini Sports Centre
Arrangements have been concluded for the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, to commission a new multimillion naira sports complex built by Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, representing Uyo Senatorial District.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, central planning committee for the thanksgiving service, Chief Okon Usung, which is slated for January 30.
The multipurpose composite sports facility located in Ifa Ikot Akpan community, Uyo Council, is among constituency projects to be commissioned during the thanksgiving service.
According to the release, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, alongside the PDP national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, will be among other top personalities to grace the project commissioning.
It states that the complex, which will also serve as a community centre and youth development centre, is located on two acres of land on the outskirts of Uyo metropolis along the airport road.
The statement, also says that, a 1.3km road project in the community equally facilitated by Senator Akpan is billed for inauguration.
The multimillion naira complex, among other facilities, has a standard football field, basketball pitch, tennis court, and a 1,500 capacity event centre. The complex also has an ICT hub, a dedicated transformer and water treatment facility.
The other components include a bar, restaurant and a solar power support system.
