RSG Begins Verification Of Fresh Candidates For PUMS, ’Morrow …Warns Against Destruction Of Public Property
The Rivers State Government will, tomorrow, commence the screening and verification of fresh students offered provisional admission into the PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS) to enable cleared candidates benefit from the state government’s partnership initiative with the institution.
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, indicated that the exercise would be conducted for candidates for the 2021/2022 academic session at the Conference Room of the ministry, at Podium Block, 7th Floor, State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt by 9am.
The statement read, “The Rivers State Ministry of Education hereby invites all candidates of Rivers origin offered provisional admission into the PAMO University of Medical Sciences as at November 21, 2021, for the 2021/2022 academic session, for screening and verification.
“Candidates are required to come along with their birth certificates, local government identification letter and other related documents”.
According to the statement, the date for the screening is “Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Time: 9am prompt”.
It added that the venue of the exercise is the “Conference Room of the Hon. Commissioner, Podium Block, 7th Floor, State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt.
“Please, note that candidates are to be seated at 8.30am, January 4, 2022”, it said.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Government has warned criminal elements destroying public property in the state to desist, or face the full weight of the law.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Works, Hon ‘Elloka Tasie-Amadi, said that anyone caught undermining the interest of the government would be met with criminal prosecution.
The statement read, “Rivers State Ministry of Works hereby wishes to intimate all and sundry that it is against the law to damage or destroy public property, an action subject to criminal prosecution.
“Residents are, therefore, warned against the act of burning tyres on asphalted roads built with tax payers’ money amidst paucity of funds, as a rite of passage into the New Year
“Government will ensure the prosecution of any persons found burning tyres on any road.
“Local government chairmen and security agencies are enjoined to ensure adherence and compliance with all laws regarding the protection of public property in general and adherence to this advice in particular.
“Traditional rulers are advised to discourage their subjects or wards against burning tyres on the road or face the full wrath of the law.
“Please, note that action against erring persons may be taken during or after the act”, the statement added.
