Oyigbo OSPAC Assures Residents Of Peaceful Environment

The Oyigbo Security, Peace and Advocacy Committee (OSPAC) in Oyigbo has assured residents of the Oyigbo Local Government Area of peaceful environment this year,
The assurance was given by the Oyigbo OSPAC Commander, Isaiah Ometanjo, Rtd DSP.
Recall that residents of the area commended the efforts of OSPAC which led to the reduction of crime in 2021
Speaking with newsmen in his office at Afam, Ometanjo said OSPAC under his leadership had a core mandate to improve on sanity
He said no doubt, Oyigbo OSPAC had done tremendously well .In 2022 ,we expect more in crime reduction .We are fully out for criminal elements
We can assure them that in Oyigbo there is no hiding place ,we are out for them .
Let the public cooperate with us and avail useful information to us
The robust relationship between us and the public cannot be jeopardised, hence their support
He absolved Oyigbo OSPAC of being involved in bunkering and other crimes
Omeanjo condemned the involvement of some OSPAC heads in crime and brutality, saying it is against the rules of engagement
He called on the Commissioner of Police ,CP Ebuka Friday, to ensure retired officers were assigned to head OSPAC in areas of operation
He said it would help to coordinate their behaviour and proper orientation to members as he had been doing in his locality.
Oyigbo OSPAC Commander said it would be unthinkable for anyone to contemplate dissolving OSPAC in Rivers state.
He said regular orientation as he had been doing would go along way to address the anomaly
Ometanjo commending Oyigbo Council Chairman, Elder Okechukwu Akara for his tremendous support to the local vigilante
He said Hon Akara deserves commendation for seeing security as a priority
Meanwhile, Afam Divisional Police Officer, CSP Yahaya Abdulkarim, has been honoured as the 2021 DPO of the year by the weekly watch Newspaper
Presenting the award recently to the Afam Divisional Police Officer in his office, the management of the newspaper said #End SARS saga in which the DPO displayed high sense of professionalism formed their decision to honour him
The management said it was alway to encourage hard work.
The management commended the CP for granting them the opportunity to honour CSP Yahaya.
The management said by this singular act the DPO had written his name with gold
Some of the residents, who spoke said the award was well deserved, judging from his performance in office.
They said #EndSARS saga in Afam, Oyigbo had proved that Nigerian police had highly committed officers who would go any length to protect lives and property just as CSP Yahaya had done.
In his speech, the recipient thanked the newspaper for finding him worthy for the award.
He said it would spur him to redouble effort in the protection of lives and property which he had signed to do.
He dedicated the award to the commissioner of police for the opportunity given to serve.
