Head Coach, of Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt, Edwin Okon, has attributed his side’s loss against Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday to defensive error.
Okon disclosed this in his post match reaction after his side lost 1-0 to their host, Bayelsa Queens, in the match Day 6 fixtures of the ongoing 2021/2022 Nigeria Women Football Premier League played inside Member City Stadium.
According to him, their target was not to lose in the game but they just had to take the result as it came because, “in football you win some, lose some and draw some.”
“A defensive error in the first half gave Bayelsa Queens the only goal of the game but in the second half, we had a better game and created more chances as well.
“We equally played today’s game without some of our key players who are currently in the national camp with the U-20 side, that also affected us.
“It’s just a little setback, we’re going to regain our spot by next week when we play our last game for this round against Sunshine Queens in Port Harcourt,” Okon added.
Wednesday’s loss will now place the Jewels of Rivers on second on the log with Bayelsa Queens leading the table with 11points have a point ahead of Rivers Angels.
As Okon hinted, Rivers Angels’ next league game is against Sunshine Queens of Akure on February 2, in Port Harcourt.
