Nwanosike Lauds Wike’s Support For Oil Bunkering Fight Tasks Navy To Put Boats Given By GovTo Use
The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Engr Samuel Nwanosike, has commended the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for the support he has been giving to the 23 local government chairmen in the fight against oil bunkering activities.
The Ikwerre Council chairman gave the commendation, last Wednesday, during a routine check on oil bunkering activities across the LGA.
He said, “I want to also commend the governor for the support he has given to the 23 local government chairmen. The logistical support, the financial support, the security he has directed to give us support to do this battle.It is a war. It’s a war against a cartel who believes that they will kill all the people of Rivers State because they want to make money. I want to thank him for the love he has for the people of Rivers State”.
Nwanosikealso commended the Nigeria Police Force for the strong support in the fight against oil bunkering activities across the state.
He also commended GovernorNyesomWike for the love and passion he has for Rivers people, saying that he was the first governor to close borders during the time of COVID-19, and now, the first to tackle soot emanating from oil bunkering due to Federal Government’s inability to construct modular refineries it promised Nigerians.
“Soot has been causing cancerous diseases, people have been dying out of lungs infection in Rivers State as a result of this action done by our young men and women who are bereft of information and ideas”, Nwanosike said.
He decried the level of destruction caused by oil bunkering activities to the ecosystem and aquatic lives.
The IkwerreLG Council boss called on the Nigerian Navy to make use of the boats bought for them by Wike in order to effectively patrol the waterways.
He urged the Navy to join the battle against oil bunkering activities and black soot.
“Nigerian Navy, this is the time to bring our boats and patrol this Choba-Ogbodo River, this Old Calabar River”, he said.
Nwanosike urged security agents in the state to desist from escorting oil bunkerers, reiterating that anyone caught by the taskforce set up by the council would be taken to the law court and prosecuted.
