Education Faculty Ranks Tops -RiSU VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Prof. NlerumOkogbule has commended the Faculty of Education for publishing a Book of Readings in honour of Prof. Wey Amaewhule, which would go down in history as the first of its kind in the life of the university.
The vice chancellor said the initiative, which he described as unity of purpose among members of staff, demonstrates that Faculty of Education is the leading faculty in the university.
Unveiling the Book of Readings titled, “Contemporary Issues in Teaching and Learning”, recently at the faculty’s Conference Room, Okogbule applauded the faculty for honouringAmaewhule, who retired from active service as a Professor of Business Education in 2020, stating that the publication would remain a lasting legacy.
He congratulated Amaewhule for his meritorious service to the university, stressing that he would be remembered as the Father of the Faculty of Education.
The VC noted that when an individual serves selflessly, such individual would be recognized, adding that the recognition done to Amaewhule would inspire others.
In his remarks, the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Joseph Vipene, said the Book of Readings was conceived in December, 2020 during a valedictory session held by the Department of Business Education in honour of Amaewhule.
The dean thanked Amaewhule for his contributions, which he said were not only for the Department of Business Education but also for the entire faculty, noting that the Book of Readings was a proof of the faculty’s appreciation to him.
In his response, the honouree, Prof. Wey Amaewhule expressed gratitude to God for the publication, stating that with it, the university has joined the league of universities that have carved a niche for themselves.
Over 50 academics contributed to the 323-page Book of Readings with various articles in teaching and learning.
