Activist Advises Religious Leaders On Broken Homes
A Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner and human rights activist, Mr Chijioke Agi, has called on religious bodies to stem the rise in matrimonial cases.
Agi described as alarming the spate of divorce among young couples.
He noted that young couples must imbibe the virtue of tolerance in order to stay in their marriages.
The lawyer expressed regrets that the high court was replete with matrimonial matter and explained that the scenario was not good for the future of the society.
He remarked that children from broken homes were likely to be more affected by the vicissitudes of life than those from untroubled homes.
He charged religious leaders to continue to preach and stress the need for a united family.
Agi stated that the family was the nucleus of the society.
According to him, “the family which is the nucleus of the society can not be allowed to decay.
He called on parents to teach their children the benefits of upright living and cautioned that the Almighty would not be pleased with them if they neglected the responsibility of bringing up their children and wards in a godly way.
He pointed out that the spate of divorce and separation was a reflection of the society.
He called on everyone to work concertedly to checkmate the menace of broken homes.
