RSG Plans Digitalisation Of Broadcast Media

The Rivers State Government said it is ready for the switch from the analogue to digital broadcasting.
The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Barrister Ibiwari Clapton-Ogolo said this at a digital switch over sanitation workshop for broadcasters and information officers in Rivers State organised by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Port Harcourt.
She commended NBC for the programme, adding that the ministry would support all effort towards digital broadcasting in the state.
Also speaking, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Malam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah said the workshop was a crucial part of activities geared towards a successful switched over from analogue to digital transmission in Rivers State.
He commended the effort of the state government in ensuring the success of the programme, adding that when successful the switched over will boost the economy of the state and enhance the living condition of the people.
According to him, the NBC was committed to digital broadcasting across the country, adding that eight states in the country have already switched over.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Ddigiteam Nigeria, Engr. Edward Amana said the workshop was to sensitised the information officers and broadcasters with the view to letting them know what is involve.
