Police Re-Arrest Suspect, Transfer Case To State CIID

A man identified as Azunna who allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl in August, this year in Eleme, has been re-arrested by the Police.
The Tide learnt that the case is transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt.
A human rights advocacy group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign had called on the State Police Commissioner, CP Friday Eboka to prevail on the Police Division in Eleme to re-arrest the suspect, after he was released by the Eleme Police Division under unclear circumstances.
The suspect, The Tide learnt, was brought to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) by the Police Division in Eleme, while the case file was transferred to SCIID on Wednesday.
National Coordinator of Centre For Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, who was at the SCIID, confirmed the development to The Tide.
Wiro commended the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Friday Eboka for ensuring the transfer of the matter to SCIID, while calling for proper investigation with a view to serving justice on the matter.
Also, in a related development, one Kinika Eke aged 24 years, who allegedly defiled a four-year-old daughter of his Church member at Ozuoba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area was transferred from Ozuoba Divisional Police Division to State Criminal and Intelligence Department (SCIID) on Wednesday.
The mother of the little girl said she and her husband took the said Mr Eke as their brother, because they attended the same church.
The mother of the alleged victim narrated that they had been assisting the suspect financially and sometimes out of trust, left the house for him and their daughter not knowing what he was doing on their little child.
She said she noticed her daughter was in severe pains, touching her private part, adding that upon questioning, her daughter told her that the suspect allegedly tampered her private part and penetration of the private part was established by a medical examination.
The suspect, The Tide learnt has been detained at SCIID for further investigations.
