No Ban On Teslim Balogun Stadium – NFF

The Super Eagles may still play their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier at the Teslim Balogun Stadium
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said there is no ban on Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. Media reports earlier this week indicated that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned Teslim Balogun Stadium from hosting senior national team international games and men’s interclub competitions over lack of proper medical equipment and poor playing surface.
Other issues raised in a letter purportedly written by CAF to the NFF include, poor floodlights at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
It was stated that CAF suggested the playing surface gets a complete ‘redo’ after a report on its standard shows it was a mix of “many grass species and others are just weeds.”
However, a top official of the NFF told newsmen on Tuesday that there wasno ban on Teslim Balogun Stadium.
“There is no ban. The government of Lagos State started work on the highlighted areas even before the match against Cape Verde,” the NFF official said.
The official was reacting to a message from The Guardian on if the NFF had picked a new venue to host Super Eagles’ World Cup playoff match next year.
The Teslim Balogun in Surulere, Lagose, host a coupleof Nigeria’s AFCON 2022 qualifying matches, and all home legs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
