Keves Competition: Police Emerge Champions, Beat Rivers United Feeder 2-1
Police Crime Buster has emerged winners of the second edition of Keves Global Football Competition, as they defeated hard fighting Rivers United Feeder Team 2-1, at Sharks Football Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
The finals of the Rivers State Football Association (RSFA) organised competition was witnessed by a huge crowd and saw the police team won the tournament back to back on Wednesday.
Speaking shortly after award presentation to winners, the Acting Chairman of RSFA, Ibigoni Benjamin Akobo, described the competition as successful after playing 176 matches, with 53 regular football clubs and eight All Stars football clubs in the State.
“ I will say that both teams played very good football, the standard is high but the only place where Rivers United Feeder team will feel bad was that this is the second time defeat.
You remember in 2019 these two teams played finals and the police team had upper hand and this years they also had advantage over them.
Apart from that, this edition was an improved one because we registered 53 regular teams and eight All Stars football clubs and played 176 games, this was unprecedented”‘Fire Related Deaths Drop By 100%’ Akobo said.
According to him, the tournament will continue to witness improvement in every edition and apologized for the poor publicity of the competition, perceived by the sponsor and pleged to improve on it next edition.
Earlier, the sponsor of the tournament, the Managing Director of Keves Global Nigeria Limited, Chief Ikenna Okafor, expressed joy over the success tournament.
He said one of the major reasons of the competition was to ensure that talents are discovered and produce stars in the State.
The MD, who was represented by the General Manager of the company, Henry Umunna, observed poor publicity of the tournament and encourage the organizers to do better in next edition.
“ The essence of this competition is to make sure Rivers State raise champions and Stars,” Okafor said.
